This EXTREMELY rare joint I stumbled across is a prime example of why I enjoy crate-digging so much. What struck me even more than the music is the fact that I can’t find any information about it, or who recorded it. Literally nothing except that it indeed exists. Usually in searching around, especially in the blogsphere you’re able to find some session musicians, or maybe even a story about how it was recorded. However, what I’ve now come to believe is that sometimes it’s cool to not know too much about an LP. It gives you the ability to almost make up a back story in your mind.
This record goes from the most purist soul, to smooth funk grooves, to a dance floor theme, and even a seamless transition to a couple disco tracks (It was recorded in ‘77 after all).
What I like the most about this joint is that it fits many moods. “What The People Say About Love” starts of the LP right on an upbeat note. “As Much Out Of It” has a soul quality which could’ve easily been recorded ten years earlier, but fits completly in context with the rest of the album. My personal favorite tracks are “Just Another Woman”, with it’s slick organ/clav groove, & “It Takes A Little Time”
